Inspired by the concept of the black box effect, this project critically investigates how opaque systems—whether technological, bureaucratic, or political—shape our perception of truth, agency, and control. Through a dual-axis analysis, it explores both the horizontal dimension of social structure and the vertical dynamics of institutional power.
The project materializes the unseen: the inner workings of political regimes, hidden surveillance, systemic manipulation, and the erosion of individual voice in the face of abstract authority. Through layered visual metaphors and interactive interventions, BLACK OUT reveals how what is concealed often holds the most power—and how ignorance, whether imposed or inherited, becomes a form of governance.
By turning invisibility into visibility, the work invites viewers to interrogate the boundaries between knowledge and belief, control and chaos. When systems go dark, who holds the light?
